There's a decent wineshop near there
Uncorked. I got a nice bottle of red Zinfandel from there.

I really like Wapping.
There are some great pubs, it's quiet, near the river and easy to get around. I spent about 7 years in various of bits of North London, it's alright too but not so good for your commute - also the nice bits are quite likely to cost *more* than Wapping.
