Rarity and pretentiousness has a lot to do with it.My dad's into whisky, he has some worth over £1k a bottle, and even he says it tastes no better than stuff costing £60 or so, it's just artificially inflated by rarity and bullshit.

yes, a lot of the cost is BSBut bear in mind the delay between distillation and it being sold.
