It fixes the silly distance from your capital bug and is pretty much perfect as those games go.

If you play Rome Total War the right way EVERY family member of your faction can be an unhinged loon.
Which makes for fucking EXCELLENT pre-battle speeches.

I am disappointed in all of you.

I don't know how to make them win, you tell your men to kill the other men and they just stand there and then die. It's rubbish.

I actually don't know how to get the effect you're describing.

That way you will NEVER know the thrill of routing a metric FUCKTON of German spearmen units backed by several wailing women units and two barbarian warlord cavalry units with only a Roman general, one unit of principes and one unit of Roman archers.
Look, the trick with ANY battle in RTW is to have ALL your infantry in one block, archers in a block behind them ALWAYS using fire arrows, and ALL your cavalry on one flank.
Use your archers to target one enemy infantry unit at a time, your cavalry to charge the enemy flank and either roll them up or disengage and chase down fleeing units to stop them regrouping, and ALWAYS send your infantry straight up the middle. That way the enemy general will almost always charge your infantry and you can hack him to pieces by trapping him between your infantry and cavalry, all the while raining firey arrowy death down on him.

In the early stages you can slaughter a rebel army with just a single unit of hastati and one unit of war dogs.
I've gained many a family member by adopting a man of the hour that way.

I just can't get my head around how slow the troops react to your orders.
