What have you got to lose though?
Either you fix it, £55 quid bonus, or you don't.

True.

Does it turn on?
Those boxes are mostly just motherboards with a hard drive attached. If it turns on but can't read the disc, it'll be as Chompy says and one of the cables has come loose from the drive.

Or the power connection to the motherboard if it doesn't.

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 11:25, Reply)
In my old Thomson one, the power was soldered.
I haven't looked at the new ones.

It's true!

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 11:37, Reply)
Chances are it's the drive connections.

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 11:44, Reply)
I've taken it apart, no loose or disconnected wires. It's 'proper fucked' to quote Boyce above.

Ah well, it was worth a look

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 12:10, Reply)
Do you want me to pop over and have look at it for you?

(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 11:25, Reply)
I just had a mental image flash through my mind.
It was a mushroom cloud.
(, Tue 18 Dec 2012, 11:26, Reply)
Nah. Thanks for offering though.
