It is Saturday though right?
I don't know what's going on
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 8:37, 1 reply, 12 years ago)
yes it is Saturday.
I've spent the day mostly in my room, frantically writing up my draft for my lab report.
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 8:41, Reply)
Which lab are you reporting on?

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 8:44, Reply)
my lab.
the experiment I've spent the last two and half months working on. Basically an undergraduate research project.

You're playing god! Some things man is not meant to know!

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 8:47, Reply)
it's okay, I don't think I discovered anything that man is not meant to know.
I just sequenced a gene and then reconstructed the product of the gene using bioinformatic software.

Ah, sort of like building something from a Kinder egg
This science stuff ain't as hard as it seems
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 8:52, Reply)
kind of.
the whole "putting it together properly" bit is what's hard. In theory it's do this, then this, then this, then that, then this, then that, get your results, write up your labwork.

it's more like "do this. bugger it didn't work. Do this again" for a lot of the steps. and multiple times. Took me six goes to get enough of the gene to be able to determine exactly what it was and to be able to use the software to construct a model.

And at the end you get to go 'ohhhh it was a rabbit'

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:12, Reply)
nope. it was a hermit crab.

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:23, Reply)
OHHHHhhhhhh man, Hermit Crabs are well cute

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:38, Reply)
not so much when you're dissecting them.
they're also non-symmetrical and that bothers me more than it should.
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:44, Reply)
They look well weird outside of the shell

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:47, Reply)
that's what I mean!
their bodies have naturally developed to be able to follow the chiral shape of the shell. Which means that their bodies are all curled and weird and *shuddery*
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:52, Reply)
It's that bulbous muscle at the end of them that’s really freaky

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:54, Reply)
yeah that's part of how they stay in the shell.
that and their abdominal pleopods anyway...
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:13, Reply)
I think I missed my calling
as a Hermit Crab breeder

Do you ever think about using your lab equipment to make food stuff?
I reckon you could do something like, I donno, extract the tasty-oils'n'stuff out of stuff? Or change the texture of something? Things like that.
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 9:58, Reply)
alright Gonz
she could use this

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:02, Reply)
trust me, if I had that, I would sell it to the highest bidder so I could just nanny and study...

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:16, Reply)
I think Monty would put the money to better use

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:21, Reply)
well I'm sure that paying the courts to be able to have his daughter out of that psycho bitch's hands is better use.
but as someone who also lives below the poverty line for the most part, I think it's not a sad dream to have...
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:25, Reply)
YEAH I'M SURE THATS WHAT HE WOULD SPEND THE MONEY ON

(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:25, Reply)
Alright HH?
That was pretty impressive. It's worth even more to a perfume manufacturer.
(, Sat 2 Feb 2013, 10:56, Reply)
