I've been thinking about giving weed/hash/whatever a try again for about 6 months.
I haven't had it in about 10 years, and didn't like it back then, but I keep on dreaming about it every other week and I want to try it again.

Apparently it's great for chrones.

I know in America you can get a medical prescription for weed.
I doubt there's anything like that over here.

There are a few THC based medications which are strictly controlled in the UK.
But not very easy to get hold of. Most likely restricted to hospital use.

I didn't know that.

Sativex is available
IIRC it's used for MS sufferers - don't know if you can get your GP to prescribe it for other conditions

I've done dozens of expermental / trial drugs before.
I mean, it's all stuff that they know is fit for human concumption, it's more that the expermental side is its effect on what I have.

So maybe possibly.

I was put in the trials for this some years ago by my GP
They were investigating the drug's effects on chronic neuropathic pain to see if it was an effective alternative/adjunct to opiates. AFAIK it's still only prescribed for MS spasticity even though I felt it gave me some relief from pain.

Theres a lot of evidence for a positive effect on autoimmune diseases.
Not enough for it to be on the NHS yet. But you can always ask your doctor about it.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:25, Reply)
How would asking his doctor about it help?
It is not approved for any clinical uses, is it?
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:26, Reply)
No but a doctor will be able to say if use will interfear with any other drugs he's on. And that's important.

(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:27, Reply)
I've always found that it complements any other drug I'm taking.

(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:29, Reply)
Yup
I donno about the payoffs between my brainwrongs and the autoimmume/painkiller effect being worth it.

I know I have the oppersie issues for most chrones people when it comes to my weight, I'm talking more for crohns in general, the increase in appitite is supposed to be A Good Thing too.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:30, Reply)
Best chat to either your GP or if you've got a specific chrones nurse/consultant.
They'll either say worth a try or not worth a try and then move on from there.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:36, Reply)
Yep, that's what I reckon.
Being honest though, it's not medical reasons why I wanna try it as a once-off.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:40, Reply)
Given the main side effects are a desire to watch shit telly and eat vile food, you're probably OK here Gonz.

I watched 5 hours of news 24 when on mushrooms once.
It was hilarious.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:38, Reply)
I watched a local news programme while coming down off mushrooms once.
I just could not make any sense of Nick Owen whatsoever.
His main role seems to be to facially react to everything his co-presenter says.
I suspect my confusion had little to do with the mushrooms.

The first time i did mushrooms, was a hotel room in amsterdam,
we put the TV on waiting for it all to kick in. We then sat and watched an interview with Vanilla Ice on dutch TV. Fell in love with mushrooms that night.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:48, Reply)
I love mushrooms.
Stupid Dutch government have spoiled all the fun now though.
It was great when you could buy them over the counter here and all.
Stupid British government too :(
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 12:51, Reply)
I just go up the common and pick them.
got about a carrier bags worth last time.
(, Mon 4 Feb 2013, 13:07, Reply)
Yeah, I don't really get the opportunity to either go picking or to take them.
I was out with little tangle at a country park a few months back and the whole place was covered in fly agarics.
It broke my heart to not collect a load.
