So I 've got this really nice recipe for ribs, I can cook them in the oven then finish them off on the BBQ!

in the oven, yes.
Some things it's worth boiling in water first. Ribs are one of them. Means you can have the BBQ on a fierce heat and get good caramelisation more easily, and they don't dry out.

boil them first. Stops them drying out. Boil them in a big pan of water for 30mins to an hour, cool them, marinade them, BBQ.
