Don't buy as much as you think you'll need
as people invariably bring food along. Put a big bucket/bin outside full of ice for beers. Put another one elsewhere for rubbish.

Alt:
Thin steaks - 20 seconds on each side. Done. Boiled new potato, wrapped in foil with rosemary, garlic and olive oil. Get a good bowl of a BBQ marinade/sauce and use a few sprigs of rosemary to brush things on there with it. Belly pork. Portobello mushrooms with garlic butter in

AltAlt:
I ate far too much and drank far too much

As I'm blessed with a good local supplier, I tell other to just pass on cash, rather than bringing food
Unless they're able to get something I can't. My friend brought some excellent kielbasa last year, they were excellent.

The rules for any BBQ we hold or go to is......
If you are going to one just bring drink they provide the food,
If I'm holding one just bring drink I provide the Food.

This seems to work well
