I would have thought that in order to do it they would have to get everyone on one of these
pre 1998 loans to sign to a new agreement, All you would need to do is refuse to sign. If they then change the terms you could get them for breach of contract.

According to that article
there is actually a provision in the load agreement that the terms can be retrospectively changed.

Which in itself is pretty disturbing that nobody spotted this before.
