If I remember rightly, it's actually very similar to the film...unlike a lot of the other adaptations.

There is a good series in the Guardian at the moment
where a guy is re-reading his books in order. He basically said that Christine was pretty shit.

He explained that the narrators character was totally underwritten, as was the femal character
and he said that there is a terrible section where the story goes from a first person narrative to a third person omniescant without explaining why, and that the main narrator inexplicably knows things that were revealed by the unknown third person.

Sounds pretty bad to me.
