Earlier this week an American on my facebook was howling with outrage about "gas" being $4/gallonI did some conversion and pointed out that it's about $10/gallon here. Mind. Blown.

Tax innitthen VAT on the tax, so it multiplies any increase.
Without tax a litre would be less than half what it is now.
