Ok I like to generalise with regard to Americans as it is very easy to do. Most of the individual yanks I have met have been very nice genuine people who were educated and restrained. Unfortunately the country itself suffers due to the projected nature. I guess due to its vast size you will always get large pockets of fuckwittery, The whole USA USA thing drives me up the wall, but I guess it would be like judging the populace of the UK by the standards of that Nigel Farage.
