prior to that it was the bedshitter twisting my arm up my back/splitting my lip open etc
i see it in my job all the time, when people split up and then realise they hadn't worked out who was going to get what in terms of property assets. never ever underestimate how bitter and nasty people can get, in my opinion.

That everything was 50/50, we opened a joint account for all bills and mortgage etc and signed that as 50/50 and then got wills and said my brother and her brother would get half each if we both bit the big one and the guy who did it all said that was fairly common and sensible. I mean, I know love is supposed to be forever, but any adult should be able to go in to that sort of long term commitment, especially financial commitment knowing that the world isn't perfect ans have an idea of what's going to happen if the shit goes bonkers no?

i had one guy who let his gf move in. he had £300k of equity. so far, so good. where he was STUPID was to let her start paying towards the mortgage and other things like a new bathroom, without recording the terms. of course, they split up, and... she went for half the entire lot.

Out of curiosity, how did it end? Did she get half?

so she argues that the intention was for her to get half and this was proven by her being allowed to pay half the mortgage, joint bank account etc.
he argues that her contribution was in lieu of rent/a gift.
i suspect the court will stick a finger in the air and give her back what she put in, minus a bit for living costs, plus a pro-rata'd bit for how much the house has gone up in value, but it's entirely possible she'll get half. he was an idiot not to seek legal advice.

if I move in with a homeowner, I shall be signing a tenancy.

eg someone who gives up their career to raise kids, then 10 years later things go pear-shaped, during which they'd had no opportunity to make their own money/property investments is entitled to it. this girl moved in, 12 months later, thinks she's entitled to it, for no good reason.
greggs hat had a beautician whom i loathed the sound of - she'd married some much older banker, it lasted 6 months, and she was going for their surrey mansion. why? why did she think she was entitled to it??

Any rich man that thinks a much younger woman is interested in him for anything other than his money is a fucking retard.

he maintained she was a sweet, innocent, hard-working girl. pfffffft.

I'm trying to wangle my way into starting paying into the mortgage myself. If I solidify my position as trophy-husband I won't have to work a single day and I'll still get half the house :D

i'd never let a fellow property lawyer move in, let's put it that way!

we went and sorted out wills and shit, and because mr b3th has kids and wants to make sure they're looked after, I offered to sign a pre nup if he wanted. The solicitor we spoke to said they were almost unenforcable in this country and it would be a waste of everybody's time.
