I can go to the Jobcentre this afternoon and shove my ES40 card sideways in the nearest Jobcentre monkey.

Brilliant. Very pleased for you.

Weekly paid an' all.
it feels like 1990 all over again.
(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:47, Reply)
I get paid weekly, it's the best way.

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:49, Reply)
I didn't think anyone got paid like that anymore.

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:51, Reply)
I've been weekly paid for the last 14 years, across two different jobs.

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:51, Reply)
Neither did I.
Not complaining though.

Did you get the job through the job centre?

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:50, Reply)
Did I fuck, they've been as much use as tits on a bull.
Got it as a result of a recruitment agent sending my CV on spec to a company.
(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:52, Reply)
I've never had to deal with the job centre in any capacity,
Are they really all that shit?
(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:54, Reply)
I think the problem is that they've been forced to move from
actively helping people to look for work, to trying to trip as many claimants up as possible and get them off the books. that said, the bint that took my claim a few weeks ago gave me the wrong person's jobseeker agreement - major breach of data protection there.
(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:56, Reply)
That's a but if a slip.
I hope never to have to deal with them if I'm honest.

I worked with half the staff in my local office 20 years ago when I was doing the same job.
I had to be proactive in getting my clients into work or training, so my down time was spent trawling the system and local papers to match clients to opportunities. That doesn't seem to happen now.

Are you Afrikaans?

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 13:03, Reply)
He worked in a pub didn't he?

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 13:08, Reply)
Speaking from experience last year, yes unbelievably so.

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 12:57, Reply)
Incredibly shit.
A few years back they tried to persuade me to go for an interview for a landscaping and garden design job, when my training is in pre-press. And then got all uppity when I explained that it wasn't really the same kind of thing. It's almost as if they saw the word 'design' and didn't bother to think any further.

The trouble with you people is that you don't want to work

(, Wed 14 Aug 2013, 13:37, Reply)
Hey, if you see a vacancy for sofa tester give me a shout yeah? I'll be all over that
