I came across this story, and I'm absolutely amazed the guy survived, let alone how little anyone was injured!

I'm not a big fan of soldiers and the like but sometimes you read a story like this and it shows that some of them really are died in the wool heroes.

Begs the question why he's not getting the VC though, rather than getting the GC. Cpl Budd (PARA) got the VC in Afghanistan, although he was killed in the process.

He either fell to the ground, accidentally landing on the grenade, or instinctively laid flat on the floor, not realising that he was on the grenade.
