Should I read To Kill a Mocking Bird or Of Mice and Men first? I'm trying to be cleverer and stuff
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:27, Reply)
I had a little cry reading of mice and men, really loved it.
To kill a mockingbird is a bit bag of shite and not worth your time.

Read Of Mice and Men first, because it'll only take you an hour.
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:40, Reply)
If you're going to cry at Steinbeck
Read "In Dubious Battle"
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:45, Reply)
Not read that.
I enjoyed Cannery Row and absolutely fucking loved the Grapes of Wrath.

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:48, Reply)

Instead I'll persuade you by reading it aloud to you, while stroking your hair as you lay your head in my lap.

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:35, Reply)
nonsense
it's films and sport and telly it's sad to cry at. Books are fine
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:36, Reply)
I don't cry at those either

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:37, Reply)
The end of Mason Dixon
You're the only other Pynchon lover on here.

Didn't that get you?
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:50, Reply)
ent read it
And I'm not saying that I don't become emotionally affected by what happens in books. Callousness to characters is typical of several authors I like (Houellebecq, Amis and Camus, for instance), but crying about it is just weird if you're past your early teens.
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 21:04, Reply)
yeah it's pretty tragic

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:32, Reply)

Enough to bring down Western Civilisation, cure cancer and punch Richard Littlejohn in his flabby jowls.

Now it's gone. Oh, the humanity.

I've never really been bothered by deletion if I'm honest.

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:26, Reply)
It's a crime against humanity. An unnactural act...

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:37, Reply)
Well, if you need any help, let me know

(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:39, Reply)
You're a brave man to offer me a shoulder to cry on
But I can live with it.
(, Thu 10 Oct 2013, 20:42, Reply)
I'll listen.
