Shouldn't be on more than 2/3 of full anyway or you risk clipping and speaker damage
unless it's a really quiet recording.

Or, y'know, you could have bought an amplifier with a suitable power rating to use with your speakers.
i.e. amp much higher than the speakers. That way you avoid clipping and speaker damage, as the sound distorts before the speakers are damaged and you know you've hit the limit.

but it's still scary how many "high end" hifi experts/shops will tell you that your speaker rating should exceed that of your amp.

That's so they can sell you more expensive speakers.....
anyhow a decent amp should trip out if it clips.
