Although the job itself is only 4 miles away, I have to go to sodding Alnwick for the interview.

I once had to go to Manchester for an interview for a job in Newcastle.

There was a logical reason behind it as it was national recruitment and Manchester was deemed to be central.

It was there HR dept, and they refused to travel up to where all the applicants would be
so made everyone that got through the first round go down to them... pricks
