Keep until Feb/March, job done, in the correct funds you'd be looking at minimum 10% growth in a year, even with 5% over the 9 months or so you''ve pissed all over inflation.

pay in as much as you can so that you max out the tax relief
And as a rough rule of thumb your contribution as a percentage of your income should be half your age.
