Those wacky Germans- they love a telephone interview!
I've had three with German companies. First one was pretty standard, got called in for a face-to face (where I was asked exactly the same questions in exactly the same order as the telephone interview) and got offered the job. Second one was a farce - the guy started in German and, when I protested that I didn't speak a word he replied 'It says you do on your CV', I replied 'Errr, no, it doesn't'. He terminated the the interview as he was looking at the wrong person's CV.
Third one was bizarre. I had a telephone interview after the face to face, which was conducted by the same people that interviewed me in person.
Go figure.
