I was in Kiev on 07/07. I remember trying call friends in London to ascertain if they were ok and not being able to get through, plus about 200 of us at Kiev airport trying to see the news around one small TV.

i rang my dad to complain about being stuck on the tube for ages and then herded out and not being able to get a bus wah wah wah (they told us it was a "power surge" on the line)
i got cut off partway through the call when they downed the networks, but at least it meant my family knew i was ok.

got to work. felt pretty fucking shit about being wah wah wah. it was horrible trying to get hold of friends and colleagues. everyone i knew was fine, apart from our office manager, who'd been one train ahead, and who came in at 3pm covered in dirt, clearly shocked to fuck, and not realising it at all.

I was on me duke of Edinburgh in Wales when it happened so was completely isolated from it.
Didn't really know it had happened at the time and the hysteria had calmed down by the time I got back.
