It's me, me, me with you all the day. Who cares about your families future when you can be earning minimum wage and being the coolest kid in the pub.
Cheerio secure employment on over 100k a year, I never liked you anyway.

You're only the coolest kid in the pub when you're giving away free booze or holding lock-ins.
If you try to actually earn a living the regulars think you're a bellend.

Try being a gp for ten years, it's depressing', if it goes tits up, I suppose I could always get back into it.

I would need regular reevaluation, and have to pay an annual fee to stay a gp, think it worked out just south of two k a year.

Try working a pub that's tied to a brewery, has no prospects and earns peanuts. Decent holidays a thing of the past, working unsociable hours, and finding that your kid gets called a smelly tramp at school because you can't afford a decent uniform.
Oh sabbatical, why didn't I take you to find out that running a pub is shit and I can barely scrape through. Now I find that I'm having difficulty finding a practice to get back into and the bank are after my house. That's depressing.

He's had some solid advice in what it will be like from a few people,
And is going for it anyway. I can't imagine what is going to happen, but I would like to hope he is one of the lucky ones that enjoys and relishes the challenge and that his wife and kid are fine without him.
