Agreed. Having been to both dog tracks and horse meetings I'd say the dogs is much more fun.
I'm not actually going to the meeting though; just touring local pubs and bookies with a couple of other reprobates.

and we have been a few times but rather than being in with the proles you book a table and have some dinner and they come round and take your bets.
