wow, I have out clownshoed myself
in spectacular fashion. The L button on my keyboard has worn out, only the L mind which is a bit odd. we don't seem to have any spare keyboards for me to steal this letter and no-one absent for me to just nick theirs.
So, I coloured in a little piece of paper to leave a white L and sellotaped it to the button and re-attached it.
I only went and fucking stuck it on upside down.
I have worked in IT for years.
Anyone else had a novel "Errrrrrrgh Joey!!" moment recently?

Just the one recently
I was looking for a spreadsheet I'd created. Couldn't find it and was cursing loudly, convinced someone had deleted it. I was in the Word directory. Which only shows the Word documents, not surprisingly.
I did give myself a stern talking to, though.

Why do people open word / excel to look for files? Did you learn that way originally?
Most of the girls in my office do that, and keep asking whether shared documents are word or excel. Why not just use the explorer / my computer method and see everything in the folders? I've stopped advising this generally though, as it makes me sound like a pedant.
(Not having a go - just curious...)

I always use 'my computer' for this but our Y drive is so humungous that there are separate directories for word, excel, etc. And I was in the wrong one .... being an arse and using language which would have made a navvie blush.
I'm usually the person hanging over someone's shoulder, laughing at them, when they do such things ... the one that bugs me are the staff who never close any app down after using it, and end up with so much running that they can't keep track of what they're doing. It can take as many as ten clicks of their mouse to get the right file visible. Aaaaaaaaargh.
