Morning everyone,
I thought I'd use the OT board to ask this as generally it seems full of intelligent and helpful people.
How would one go about submitting written works or plays to a radio station?
Apologies for the vagueness of the question, but it's something i thought about on the way in to work, and I can't really access many sites from my phone.
I don't even know what sort of stations would accept or use admissions from the public (my radio rarely wanders past Radio One in honesty)
Can anyone suggest Radio stations that broadcast plays etc, and if known, how to submit stuff to them?
Apologies in advance for a thoroughly boring post, which would normally have been avoided had I access to the web as a whole!

Most of the content is produced by external companies these days (talking mainly in the case of the BBC here)
You need to research some stuff you've liked and is maybe similar to yours, find out who produced it, then get in touch with them. It may be the BBC, I think a lot of the drama on Radio 4 is still in house, but more and more of it isn't.

A lot of their stuff is produced outside, but they do have to commission it, and they make their own stuff as well.
I guess Radio 4 should be your first port of call, possibly followed by 7. Occasionally, they do have competitions for new writers, so they might at least be able to put you on a mailing list or something.

Download this on your phone, if it's capable of running Java apps
mini.opera.com
I use it exclusively for internet access.
Second, visit this:

with thanks to chickenlady for pointing me in its direction in the first place. Might sort you out.

has had a few bits on Radio 4 - she started out on 'Home Truths' sadly that no longer exists....
I'd listen to Radio 4 if I were you - they have short stories and plays on during the afternoon quite often. Get to know which companies/producers are being used regularly and then google them. That way you can attack on two fronts - contacting the BBC direct and also contacting the independent companies and offering your services.
Good luck!
