 Here's your chance
Here's your chanceto decide how I get drunk tonight.
Someone gave me a bottle of Chivas Regal whiskey. I don't normally drink whiskey and I'm not a huge fan of drinking spirits neat. I don't wanna stick shitty cola in it, so...
YOU get to decide what I mix it with.

 Whisky
Whiskyshould be drunk neat, or with water.
And Chivas Regal is rather fine stuff, IMO.

My Papa worked in the Chivas distillery
My Papa worked in the Chivas distilleryIt says 'made in Edinburgh' on the bottle, but it's actually made in a shitty little town called Paisley.
I learned you something! Chivas is very nice for a blend, I'd recommend drinking it neat in a crystal tumbler. If you want to take the edge off of it though, use a tiny drop of water.

 Come on now Bert
Come on now BertPaisley's not a shitty little town.
It's a shitty big town.

 Big?
Big?It's not the smallest town I've ever seen, but I'm glad we agree that it's shit.
I was born there.
EDIT Remember No3l TINY drop of water, it'll just take away the acidity, any more and it's like drinking whisky flavoured squash.

 Wait!
Wait!I concur with the consensus that a good whisky should either be sipped neat or with a drop of water.
Mixing with coke is fine if we're talking about slugging whisky, but decent scotch deserves to be treated better.

 I'm pleasantly surprised
	I'm pleasantly surprisedfor two reasons.
First, that someone's thought to give me a 'good' bottle of something to drink.
Second, that the majority of suggestions are sensible.
Feel free to be creative too - I might just try it :)

 nooooooo
nooooooonever defile a nice single malt with anything other than water, or itself as many above also point out.
Heathen.

 H2O
H2Oover ice or with some water. if that's too harsh use sparkling water, which will counteract sharpness of flavor. sip slowly and enjoy. whiskey is the wonderful.

 100% concurrance
100% concurranceTiny drop of water (filtered or bottled still rather than tap, if you've the choice). This has the added benefit that if you offer one to your misses, you can dilute hers more - no point wasting too much good scotch on a woman is there?

 Chivas is repulsive
Chivas is repulsive12 year old (or older) Bowmore is the victor, I'd say - although the sole distillery on the Isle of Jura turns out a rather drinkable malt.
I recommend mixing your Chivas with dry ginger ale and a twist of lime.
Or make a grenade out of it.
*EDIT* My post makes me look like a pompous ass. I fear this may be an accurate impression.

 I'm no whiskey snob
I'm no whiskey snoband the taste used to make me gag.
So if the ice thing doesn't work I'm gonna disappoint the majority of you and sling it in some ginger beer :)
*rubs hands together gleefully*
Edit: my post makes me look like a White Lightning-quaffing bum. Which could be close to the truth :)

 @Halfy
@HalfyI'll take your tip and give it a go.
I tried a frankly amazing Japanese whisky a few weeks ago - although I'm really a cognac chap at heart.
I once was *that* close to buying a bottle of cognac from 1803 for a couple of grand whilst shopping (pissed) in Paris.

 I've always heard that whisky
I've always heard that whiskyshould be drunk just as you like it - as Baldmonkey says.
Personally I like it with Irn Bru.

 yum...
yum...If you are not a big fan of the taste of whiskey I would suggest making Irish coffee, failing the will to mess about with coffee and whipping cream, mixing with an Irish cream liquor makes a nice boozey beverage, or if you can get it red lemonade which takes the edge off a bit like the ginger beer I think.
After a few mixed beverages, drink it straight or with a (tiny) drop of water to enhance the flavour, it will go down nicely. Enjoy!

 Cheers! *clink*
Cheers! *clink*After trying it neat, with a drop of water and with a single ice cube, I'm having it with fine ginger ale, and I must say it's going down a bloody treat.
Apologies to those who think it's sacreligious, but in a couple more glasses, I'm not going to care :)
