I have a PC.
It has a DVD drive.
I'm borrowing a DVD from someone at work tonight. Need to give 'em it back tomorrow.
I'm gonna risk sounding like an ultra-retard here...
How do I copy the film to my hard drive?
Is it as simple as "Ctrl+C" "Ctrl+V"? Or do I need some software?

you need some software
a DVD ripper. I'm sure someone else will recommend one, so I won't look for you.

You may be able to miss out step 2, as VLC should play .vob/.ts without any problems.

I use VLC, so yeah, Step 1 it is.
P.S. Jim, tell me about the Lucky Strike rolling tobacco! Or did I imagine it?

which is a damn shame. I wrote to BAT asking about the feasibility of getting it sold over here, and they never wrote back!
Just a thought Mr K, VOB files will be biiiig files, so if you don't want them taking up much space you should convert them to whatever you want. That's only if you have space issues.

It's just for this one film.
Only in France :|
I knew there had to be a reason for that country...

Yes. I can see where your coming from.
But you can trust me on this one.
:)
DVD Decryptor will take the encryption off it and put it in a folder. ( Video_TS and Audio_TS) The Audio_TS is always empty.
Then DVD to one allows you to remove certain parts of the image to make it smaller and fit on 1 disc.

google it, its free and piss easy to use, wil rip to an .iso file and shrink the dvd to 4.7gb which means you can burn it to a blank dvd with any burning software, or use vlc to play it
Its great for making backups
*ahem*

Put the DVD in the scanner, silver side down.
Hit the big green button - Don't look into the light!
Job done.
Edit: If you've got one of those all-in-one jobbies, you could make copies for all your friends without even switching your computer on!

People did their best to help me, but you just went the extra mile, and I appreciate that.
Can I buy you dinner some time?
