hey there VC!
all is well in the land of wind and snow. having a DAY OFF today!
major success this week, building control were absolutely delighted with the wiring i did, said it was at least as good as any electrician would have done!! result.
and how are you my dear?
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:01, Reply)
I am well thanks
I have officially been 17 for nearly 48 hours now, and I had a very nice glass of Paul Romage Bubbly given to me last night by my boss as a birthday drink (I'm technically not allowed to).

I also had a great night at work last night chatting with three scientists and an accountant. The scientists were chemists and physicists and couldn't understand my attraction and passion about Biology. They asked me to act as a moderator for their quite loud and nerdy arguments several times. It was funny.

Today I did homework. It was boring.
:D

So what's on for your day off?
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:06, Reply)
17? grrrrr! green wid envy and ting!
got a chicken to roast, a kitchen to design and the valve on an old (at least 120 years) towel rail to strip and refurbish.
and you? what time of what day is it?

and i need to get some coal cos the coalman won't be here until wednesday.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:12, Reply)
the day is nearly over
it's 2:25pm.

And tomorrow I have school. *sigh*
However I'm going to buy some books after school so it's all good.

Your day sounds like a jumble of random things.

And why are you jealous that I'm 17? I bet you're not as old as Methuselah.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:25, Reply)
i'm 40 this year...
my darling wife is 26 in a couple of weeks. so i guess that makes me kind of 26 by default.
but it gets harder to handle the pace as the years creep by...
as leonard cohen put it..."i ache in the places where i used to play"

anyway, it's not such a random day as you might think...

the chicken is for dinner.
the kitchen design is for the house i've been renovating, once it's designed it means i can finish the wiring so then the plasterer can get on.
the antique towel rail is for the main bathroom in the same house. bought it about 17 years ago but never got round to fixing the valve...and now it's sitting in the workshop and time is running out!

edit: yeah, boring!!
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:37, Reply)
wow
14 year age gap.

Impressive.
You sir - have pulling power.

So whereabouts are you from?
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:45, Reply)
oh the flattery! i'm loving it yeah!
where am i from?
well both my parents are scottish but i was born just south of the border in Carlisle. i've lived in various places over the years but it keeps dragging me back! to be honest i rather like it here. the air is clean, we're surrounded on 3 sides by mountains with sea on the 4th, only 10 minutes to scotland...

edit: actually some of them are hills, not mountains!
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:53, Reply)
went for a drive in the new van yesterday...
about 140 miles, through all the snow and stuff. totally groovy and beautifull and such. the hills were like something off a postcard! which round here they are!!
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 10:59, Reply)
ahah
scotland. Yay. Heard its cold there. true fact?

I went to new zealand earlier this year and saw mountains for the first time in my whole life. I felt incredibly small.

Hello peeps.
Today has not been good so far. I went to the gym in my new exercise pants and realised I bought a size too big. Have you tried running whilst holding up your trousers. It's not bloody easy I can tell you. I knew I should have got a smaller size but did I listen to myself? Did I bugger.

I also had a big mirror delivered today for my living room and once unpacked, found it was broken.

The day better improve or I'm off to bed until it ends.

Have a hug from me /glompy hugs.

I'm sorry to hear all that - sounds totally shit.
and actually - yes I have done the running in the one size too big pants thing.

It wasn't fun.

last night it got down to -10c
but generally it's more just cool and damp!
3 years ago we went to poland for christmas to visit my wife's family and when we arrived at warsaw airport it was -28c. proper cold!
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:06, Reply)
I'm bored of the snow now.
Thanks for the hugs VC.

I'm off to some drawing so I'll see you later.

Morning
I'm a teeny bit hungover.

Did a lot of drinking last night, I popped in to Doctor When's Birthday Bash which looked ace. So I'm now looking forward to attending a bash at some point.

hi LiC
All this talk of Bashes is making me very sad that I don't actually reside in the UK.

I tell you - when I get there I'll be at so many of them you'll get sick of me real quick!

And how's your head Chains?
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:19, Reply)
Getting better
I am off to the pub for a pub lunch in a bit.

I'm thinking I might walk there and back - it's about 20 minutes each way.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:40, Reply)
doesn't sound too far
I'm writing a story for QOTW cos I have nothing better to do at this point in time. :(
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:41, Reply)
Yeah
Normally I drive, but I walked roughly the same distance last night to the train station and back, and didn't really mind (I was wrapped up warm and was listening to some funky music).

Given that I get zero exercise in a typical week I might start doing more walking - to the shops or whatever.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:48, Reply)
I like walking
what kind of music were you listening to?
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:52, Reply)
Last night
it was Bitter:Sweet - Drama (listen to "The Bomb"). Sort of Jazzy trip-hop, quite suitable for walking to the pub - and occasionally doing little dance steps when nobody's looking.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 11:59, Reply)
ahah nice
I love listening to Matchbox Twenty or Crowded House or Hunters and Collectors when I'm out walking.

I may occasionally sing out at the top of my lungs when no one else is around :D
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 12:08, Reply)
You might like
Elliot Minor or Something Corporate.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 12:15, Reply)
Yeah??
I'll see if I can pinch some of their stuff of my parents CD stacks then. If not - I'll buy a cd or two..

Nobody ever buys CD's anymore which I think is a damn shame. I love CD's. I love the cover arts.
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 12:19, Reply)
Try last.fm or emusic
to see if you like them first.

okiedoke
will do - thanks for that little gem, Light!

anywho - i've finished my story and posted it so I'll go to bed soon. I guess I'll drop by tomorrow and say hi after school :D

Night :D
(, Sun 8 Feb 2009, 12:36, Reply)
Back from the pub
Um... Night 'cat!

Walking is good if you've got the right music, I've decided.
