What to do
Going up to Teesside at weekend with the wife and kids to visit a friend. Are there any good attractions open we can go visit? Preferably in a 40 mile radius of Billingham (in any direction), but not including the Nth Yorkshire Moors because we've exhausted that option in the past.

Preston Park Museum at Yarm.
It's not bad and has a blacksmiths forge, aviary, butterfly world some reconstructed rooms from homes from victorian times on. Tickets are about £1.80 and last for a year! Bargain! And if you go on Saturdays there are usually weddings on which keep the girlies happy too.

Beamish Open Air Museum
In Co. Durham is usually a good option. Might just about be within your radius.
