Re: Jade Goody's death.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he was "deeply saddened" by the news and described Goody as "a courageous woman both in life and death".

"The whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children."

What the hell has Gordon Brown got to do with Jade Goody? I can't imagine him (or the incumbent on the day I die) commenting on my death. There's plenty of people who have worked harder, achieved more, enriched lives and made a real contribution that he doesn't even know about!

Why has he been influenced to make a comment? The press coverage. So, here's the key question ... Are the press managing the politicians or are the politicians managing the press? It's certainly not public opinion that's made him comment ... everyone on b3ta and indeed everyone I know thinks Jade's departure from this vale of tears has been a good thing...

And sadly it is because of public opinion, b3ta and your mates is not a representative sample. Bizarrely there are a fuck of a lot of people out there who actually care(d) about the bint. I despair that they're allowed to vote in elections, but presumably this is who he's trying to appeal to.

I am fucking sick of the whole thing now, it's even been polluting my favourite choice of intelligent broadsheet newspaper, for fuck's sake.

They don't generally pander to the sycophantic idiots that make up the majority of the UKs population. Not as intelligent as the Times, though.

However, the headlines tend to be about immigrants or job losses, or unBritishness of some form or another.

Can't win any way, really. Whatever you buy is tainted with biased views.

Something happened a few years ago...
...and the universe blinked for a few seconds and we suddenly found oursleves in a not entirely unfamiliar parallel dimension. This (the Gordon Brown/Jade Goody bit) is one of the situations were you know reality is on the blink. (Other famous examples being Marathon turning into Snickers and Man Utd buying Veron, Kleberson and Eric Djemba-Djemba.)

Actually I really couldn't give a dry flying fanny fart.

My girlfriend said to me yesterday in a sad voice on the phone, "Jade Goody died today". I really couldn't think what would be an appropriate response. I think I just said, "yes" after realising I'd spent nearly 30 seconds throwing away inappropriate comments and trying to not giggle at them.
