Check them out. Having a classically trained opera singer at the front of a schlock metal band is making me chuckle, but they're actually pretty damn good.
(Okay, so the Diablo Swing Orchestra isn't really a new band, but they're new to me.)

I don't know whether it's just me, but I've always detected heavy King Crimson influences in their music.

Conjure One, I tried them on Spotify and I quite like them.
EDIT: Looks like DSO are on Candlelight along with Olivia Sperati - Norwegian all-girl doom metal band. Might be up your alley. :)

I've punted them around to a few mates as well.
That sort of thing can so often go wrong, but they've done a fine job of mixing a lot of random styles of music.
