I've decided to webcast the upcoming Melbourne Bash. I'll setup a webcam linked to a 3G USB modem and stream the Bash live.
I've figured how to send still images to my server in the States - now trying to figure out streaming live video without forking out for a Flash Media Server. There'll be a way to do it.
So this'll be a B3ta first. A B3ta piss-up in Australia streamed live over the web.
God I love technology!
Cheers

I'll look into that.
I have to use some sort of service that I can use as a buffer rather than letting people connect directly to the webcam. That would bust my bandwidth limits in no time and bandwidth costs a bomb down here.

VLC should do what you want if you're prepared to forego the fancy embedded Flash video and just give people a link to a stream like ye olde days.

good idea. Where are we planning on having it by the way? I can't book a hostel bed until I know where we're at!

its really simple, and it works. I run it on my jesus phone which has a shite lens and the quality is fucking awful, but on a proper phone, it works beautifully.

but stickam and ustream are both designed for this kind of thing I think.
Looking forward to it already!
