Everything I've read about the Renault Laguna basically says that they're famously unreliable. Mine's 9 years old and has 154k miles on the clock, goes like poo off a pole and runs as sweet as even though I've never changed the oil in the 20k miles I've driven it for.
Anybody else have a Laguna that is far more reliable than people make out?

was a 1997 P reg, and it was great. It went 135000 miles in 6 years before I sold it to a mate. It had had a new radiator and stuff like brake discs etc, but nothing major. He ran it for a couple of years and did virtually nothing to it, before selling it to a workmate who ran it to 195000 miles, when the clutch went. He then scrapped it because a new clutch was more than the car was worth, but the bodywork was fine, as was the engine.
My subsequent one however, a 53 plate Mk II, was a heap of crap. I had endless bother with it, as I've ranted about here before. 12 warranty claims in the first 60000 miles, and numerous troubles thereafter. I couldn't keep it in track rod ends for one thing. I replaced 7 (seven) of them! It died recently at 124000 miles, when the top end of the engine went kaput and was going to cost an astronomical amount to repair. Don't buy one. They're pish.
Allegedly the new model is much better, but I'm sworn off Renaults now.
Edit - Change your oil. Especially if it's a turbo diesel. Seriously. It may be going fine now, but not changing the oil is false economy. Do it.

Though I checked the oil earlier and it looks like something found in a condemned fish&chip shop.
