I play more rock/metal, so what you're saying actually helps a lot.
I can't get on the the Fender style, they're just too cumbersome for me.

Your out of the band now... Though for metal shredding Ibanez kicks ass
I love my Fender so there *sticks out tongue*

They just don't suit me.
I listened to your stuff last night, very good, and I tatally agree with your influences.
Any band influenced by Floyd and King Crimson has to be good!

I own two basses - one's a cheap Aria, not dissimilar in design to an Ibanez, the other's a cheap P-bass copy. And I just feel a lot more 'in control' of the rhythm section with my P-bass.
It may just be a phenomenal insecurity complex on my part, but the P-bass does sound so much powerful...
(It's also a much bigger piece of wood to hide behind)

aside from his double bass, has an Ernie Ball Stingray
fuck me it's good. can play it almost like lead guitar

if I were ever to upgrade from my cheap P-bass but wasn't willing to pay for a proper Fender. They did have nice big, slab bodies. I think it's just the quirky look of them that puts me off slightly.

a decent new stingray will cost you upwards of £1000. best bass I've ever played by a long shot.

Then I obviously have a different Ernie Ball bass in mind to the one you're describing....whoops
