What is the opinion on Ibanez guitars?
Has anybody here played one of their basses?

A mates' SR305, wasn't bad at all.
My semi-hollow bodied Aria is pretty similar to the Ibanez AGB140TBR.

I was looking at the SR300 myself. I like the thin neck, make it much easier on my small fingers.

From what I've heard!
You've not answered the all-important question though, what colour :p
( , Thu 21 May 2009, 15:15, Reply)

Not that the colour reeeeealllly matters.
Except... It kinda does.

It does matter, you have to have a good looking guitar. Although that comes second so sound.
I did think about the candy apple red one though!

in the colour you are thinking of
very nice, I'd recommend it.

It is by far the best purchase I have ever made on anything music related. It never goes out of tune. I love, love, love my Iceman.
And why wouldn't I? It's called an Iceman!

am tempted, however I imagine it plays a lot like my RG

I've not much experience with them, but the ones I've twiddled on/heard tend to be sleek little beasts with the right set-up for a 'modern' sort of tone, plus they tend to have thin necks which makes them ideal for technical stuff and rock/metal.
So as someone who mostly plays blues and jazz, I prefer the old-fashioned, coffee-table Precision-style basses.

I play more rock/metal, so what you're saying actually helps a lot.
I can't get on the the Fender style, they're just too cumbersome for me.

Your out of the band now... Though for metal shredding Ibanez kicks ass
I love my Fender so there *sticks out tongue*

They just don't suit me.
I listened to your stuff last night, very good, and I tatally agree with your influences.
Any band influenced by Floyd and King Crimson has to be good!

But were not that good! so dont get too excited

I own two basses - one's a cheap Aria, not dissimilar in design to an Ibanez, the other's a cheap P-bass copy. And I just feel a lot more 'in control' of the rhythm section with my P-bass.
It may just be a phenomenal insecurity complex on my part, but the P-bass does sound so much powerful...
(It's also a much bigger piece of wood to hide behind)

aside from his double bass, has an Ernie Ball Stingray
fuck me it's good. can play it almost like lead guitar
( , Thu 21 May 2009, 15:57, Reply)

if I were ever to upgrade from my cheap P-bass but wasn't willing to pay for a proper Fender. They did have nice big, slab bodies. I think it's just the quirky look of them that puts me off slightly.
( , Thu 21 May 2009, 15:59, Reply)

a decent new stingray will cost you upwards of £1000. best bass I've ever played by a long shot.
( , Thu 21 May 2009, 16:01, Reply)

Then I obviously have a different Ernie Ball bass in mind to the one you're describing....whoops

it's fucking ace for shredding.
I've played several of their acoustics, all superb, and the couple of basses I've played have been great too.
Good value for money and top sound
6 thumbs up
not as nice as my Strat though

Gives me very good advice.
Thanks man!

No... That didn't work. I just feel slightly dirty now.
