That's shit,
What's also shit is that if you run over a cat you are not legally obliged to stop and report it, whereas if you run over a dog, you are.

Or at least that used to be the case, I think.

Used to be the case
Used to be the case when you had to have a license for a dog (I think).

Not the case anymore to my knowledge.

[edit] The Road Traffic Act 1988

It is an offence to have a dog on a designated road without it being held on a lead. Local authorities may have similar bye-laws covering public areas. Dogs travelling in vehicles should not be a nuisance or in any way distract the driver during a journey.

If a dog is injured in a car accident, the driver must stop and give their details to the person in charge of the dog. If there is no person in charge of the dog, the incident must be reported to the police within 24 hours.

Ah
cheers for the confirmation. I can now run stray dogs over with impunity.

I'm joshing, obviously

So.
Actually you are still legally required to report a vehicle/dog incident.

I had to memorise the 1988 Road Traffic Act for my first CPC so I was fairly sure you did.

That is still the case
And therein lies the difference between legal and moral obligation.

There are three great loves in my life - music (in particular XTC), Cricket and my pets.

I'm listening to Drums and Wires, watching cricket and playing with new kitty.

Beat that, MoFo's.

XTC?
As in 'I'm only making plans for Nigel'?

Raises glass to poor kitty. May he rest in peace.

Yes, that XTC.
Making Plans For Nigel was one of the worst things they ever did but it made them a LOT of money. So they - well, Andy Patridge - could go on to write songs like The Disappointed - hence my username.

Pippin (deceased) was a lady kitty. She's in the first page of my profile (I think.)

I miss her, but Pippin 2 - possibly needing a new name - is keeping me busy.

I was raising a glass to undercovercarrot's cat but I shall raise a glass to Pippen too.
I'm sure I had one of XTC's albums many years ago but my addled brain can only remember that one song.

Edit - now I have that damn song in my head.

As Joe Hill said - "Don't mourn - Organise!"
(My other passion - the IWW and American Socialism - in other words how different the world might have been now.)

Pippin (the first) died happy.

I cried my eyes out when she went, and I miss her a lot, but now I have Pippin 2.

She loves affection, she sulks when she doesn't get it, she's playful and fun.

And this is very entertaing cricket.
