that might be a plan. how good is open office at saving things in ms-word format? looking to send a cv

I shelled out £100 for a new copy of word as I'd lost the key for mine when my computer died in the middle of my dissertation.

Yes and No
I've got a LaTex'd PDF CV but you'd be surprised how many people email back asking for a Word version. Mind, this is more often recruitment agencies who want to chop off your contact details so the company you're applying to has to go through them.
