I have a question.
What is your favourite music video, be it to do with the story, quality of the song or something else?

Mine is November Rain by Guns N' Roses, partly because it's so over the top and cost so much money and partly because it makes me want to squishyhug Axl Rose and make it all better.

The Chemical Brothers,
'Star Guitar'. Amazingly synced and visualised. (Michael Gondry, so that's to be expected.)

I also have a soft spot for 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' though.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 16:43, Reply)
That's rather cool.
Love Total Eclipse of the Heart too though!

Also just been reminded of Lovecats by The Cure. Fucking mental video with added fluffeh!

Bathtime in Clerkenwell
By The Real Tuesday Weld.

I love the song...the video is the most spectacularly peculiar thing upon which I have ever set eyes.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 16:50, Reply)
*flails*
I love it! Reminds me a bit of the one for It's a Hit by Rilo Kiley, which annoyingly is not on YouTube.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:00, Reply)
that video really scares me

(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:03, Reply)
The first time I saw it
it made me laugh like a mong who'd just caught the Andrex puppy, but I can see why it might unnerve. I think "batfuck insane" is the most appropriate description.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:06, Reply)
no, I mean, REALLY scares me -
it actually makes me want to scratch at my skin until I tear it off
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:07, Reply)
Wow, that's quite an extreme reaction...
Do you have a phobia of cuckoos that sing in close harmony?
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:09, Reply)
Sounds like my reaction to the uncut Rock DJ video.
Fucking hate Robbie Williams at the best of times, but peeling off his skin? Ewwwwwwww. Do not like.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:12, Reply)
Unless, of course,
we could actually have him put down that way, as punishment for the heinous indecent aural assaults he has inflicted upon us over many years.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:15, Reply)
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement.
Or else put him on spikes, the arrogant cunt. Stalker Girl believes he is 'a genius' - we can put her to death with him.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:24, Reply)
I really like it.
Have also just remembered Moneymaker by Rilo Kiley as well... if you're straight it will make you question that!
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:09, Reply)
I quite like that Animi Linkin Park one.
Coffie'n'TV by blur.
OK GO !'s videos are amature-tastic.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:15, Reply)
Oh my, Linkin Park.
I remember really liking In The End when it came out *shames*
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:23, Reply)
I like most of their songs.
It's constantly not amazing, but quite good.

That "My December" one is their best, in my opinon.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:26, Reply)
I have a soft spot for What I've Done and Breaking the Habit.
I'm also partial to Evanescence *checks flatmate is not looking as he'll take the piss*
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:30, Reply)
Everascene ! YES !
*gets downloading*

That's the one with the opera-like girl, rock'n'roll band, and rapper-ish guy?

I forgot all about them, but love that song with the video that is on loads of roof tops.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:41, Reply)
You shouldn't worry about what people think in regards to what music you like.
It's almost like dissin' someone for their favorite colour.

I know loads of people think Will Smith's stuff is shit, but I really really like his album 'lost and found', he's done some great stuff.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:42, Reply)
I've been subjecting him to some of the more questionable side of my music all afternoon.
He hates 99% of what I listen to anyway, but some of it makes him growl... serves him right for playing Weird Al and Girls Aloud at me!
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:44, Reply)
Girls Aloud, although I don't really like (except that 'love machine' song), is great brit-pop.
I can't stand this american thing going on at the moment where everything sounds like it's from a nintendo game with lyrics (Britney Spears and Eminem, I'm looking at you).

I listened to Eminem's latest album again today, it's a few times I've listened to it, hoping that the lyrics make up for it, but it's all "I hate my mum, I do drugs". His older stuff tells stories and is quite thought provoking.

One of my favorite albums is "Dan Le Sac vs Scroobulous Pip"'s Angels, the lyrics are whicked.

I like Offspring's latest album too.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:53, Reply)
My hatred of Girls Aloud is more to do with wishing I looked like that
than their lack of discernible musical talent. I loathe that Can't Speak French song and nearly killed my flatmate for waking me up with it once!

Really really hate most modern pop to be honest - the only albums I've enjoyed in the last year or so have been Lily Allen's and the new Jem album. I hate the R&B influence that's coming in, especially the fucking Pussycat Dolls!

Conversely I'm quite fond of old-school Eminem, reminds me of some of my few happy times at school :)
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:57, Reply)
I really don't find them phsyacly attractive.
I like women to look like women and not manufactured barby dolls, and from what I hear (admitadly, very very very briefly) of their personailtys... well, bein' a bitch is a really turn off for me. Ditto stands for the Pussycat Dolls.

That Lily Allen stuff isn't bad, I like that priory-like one (I think that was her). I'll probably give that another few listens over the week. I quite like Kate Perry's album, have you hear the Travis cover of 'I kissed a girl' ? Only thing I don't like about that song, is when it gets high-jacked by every single wannabe drag-act out there on YouTube. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of drag as much as the next metrosexual guy, the humour is right up my street, I just don't like anything that gets taken on as a theme/meme.

Rytham and Blues can be quite good, Rytham and Bass is shit. I can't stand Garage or House eaither... but aside from that, I like most stuff.

Eminem is great, esspeicaly if you ignore the whole wigger* thing and just listen to his words, he's very clever with words, i'ld say on par with the likes of Steven Fry. Oh man, I've just had a thought, imagine if he could rap, that would be whicked.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 18:42, Reply)
Then you're sensible. Stupid vacuous whores *bitters*.
Would much rather look like Amy Lee or Tarja.

Lily Allen's new album is all of the awesome - I'm especially partial to Not Fair and Fuck You :) can't say I'm a fan of Katy Perry though, the impression I get from her is that she's trying far too hard to be controversial and it just pisses me off (also fake lesbianism gets right on my tits)!

Garage no, house no, trance yes (especially old 90s stuff like my flatmate listens to), awful stuff like Fiddy and Akon no no no! Recently discovered I'm partial to a little bit of drum n' bass and dubstep since I work with a DJ :)

Hee :) Eminem's old stuff is wonderful for psyching you up before work (don't recommend Disturbed, sends you into work spoiling for a fight!) and Stephen Fry rapping - preferably with a cup of tea - has replaced Brian Blessed on a trampoline as my favourite - non-naughty - mental image!
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 19:13, Reply)
I quite like the look (and music) of Lisa Miskovsky, and Speedway's album is good too, check them out.
Ohh, yes, I can't stand "I'm so contraversial" intentional stuff. If someone is, then they are, but when they're just doing it for the headline ratings, then it's all abit attention-seeking. Britney Spears is quite bad for that, her twitter really pissed me off when she visited a children's hospital and the whole thing looked like a publicity stunt... it wouldn't supprise me if they chucked a kid out their room so she can put on her make up, it had her logo over the Twitpic too, which ovbously wasn't uploaded from a mobile phone. She's such an inspiration to us all.

Oh yeah', I like a bit of Trance, I can't remember any specific songs, but it's great background music. Esspecialy the 'chill out' ones.

I like Eminem to get me into the mood to do Srs Bzns too, and a bit of Offspring does the same.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 19:43, Reply)
Yep :) Amy Lee is rather lovely to look at but needs to get over herself.
Going Under? Loved them when I was at uni!
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:42, Reply)
She's lovely, like a not-over-the-top "Suicide Girl".

(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:55, Reply)
Some of them are stunning.
Were I not customer-facing I'd have black and blue hair like Sky from Neighbours used to have about now!
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:58, Reply)
I'm not customer facing at all, but would like to be.
In what I mainly do, web development, I could be quite creative with my looks, I would like to be, but first I'm going to lose some weight, because nothing is worst than a 'creative' fatty.

I'm gonna get a tatto at some point, my first one, I've wanted a specific thing for years and years now.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 18:43, Reply)
I want ink, but I don't know what I'd get.
I'm rather partial to wings on your shoulder blades as these can easily be hidden for work, but I think they're too ... emo. I want to lose some weight, too, to look better in a corset. Hate having a desk job!

99% of the time, we're not customer-facing, but being customer relations traveller care, we would need to be onsite at the station in case of major disruption so we do need to be smart-ish.
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 19:06, Reply)
I really like those perspective tattos,
the ones that have a 'shaddow' under the object so it looks almost 3D. I also quite like those ones where it looks like you've got a big rip in your skin (like a shark bite), but you can see robot/snake/whatever insides. I reckon they would hurt quite baddly though, and wouldn't look good in an office enviroment.

I know they're cheesy, but Tribels are quite good in the right place.

If you like Evanescence
Check out Guano Apes. Sort of a German Evanescence, I slightly prefer them.

I should point out this is a joke.

I think listening to Kirsty MacColl throughout my teens
made me the woman I am today. Snarky, sarcastic and very filthy.

Kiss me where it smells funny
by the Bloodhound Gang

guy steals a big fish, spends the rest of the video running through a town with it, jumping over fences etc.

classic
(, Sun 28 Jun 2009, 17:40, Reply)
Bloodhound Gang FTW.
Still like The Bad Touch, and the video - in fact I used to know a couple who'd adopted it as 'their' song :)

Hurt by Johnny Cash
Hard to watch but the visceral quality of this version makes it a must watch. Again and again.

Absolutely love him :)
