So - I like to write. I really do. More to the point - I'm trying to find ways of getting paid to write. I've found a couple of sites via google that pay you to write, but I'm just wondering if you guys have got any opinions on sites or magazines that pay you to write for them - are any sites or mags good or bad to write for etc?
I realise you're all enjoying your saturdays - just thought i'd ask.

You could ask chickenlady though as she's a published writer.

Print off lots of copies of what you have written, and send it out to as many publishers, magazines etc with covering letters, and use a list so you know where you've sent it. Most will send it back with just a rejection slip, or never get back to you. I don't know any specific publishers or magazines to go for or avoid, but I suspect there will be something like writers forums that will give you hints. Also, do not ever go with a vanity publisher or press - you won't sell a single book.
If you have a particular style or genre that you'd like to write, I can see if any of the publishers I work with would be willing to take a look at your work.

However I'm trying to get back into writing myself so would be more than happy to help any other way :)

I think they paid about £50 each, but some paid up to £150 per piece. Enough to pay for beer money down the union anyway. Maybe upside down land have similar magazines that do the same thing?
