for instance, I've been off work for a week and someone, or some people, have stolen both of my clicky pencils. Fuckers.

That's worse than being ill. Fortunately I don't feel too bad today, just kind of dazed and like I'm wrapped in cotton wool, which I can deal with.

Stealing clicky pencils is just low
When I'm off for any time I always lock my desk drawer to prevent that sort of thing. Of course that doesn't work if I'll ill, because usually that comes on without warning.
