...oh I feel tired. But not *quite* tired enough to go back to bed. Just tired enough to be non-functional. Damn.
Question then: out of all the "greats" who died early - Hendrix, etc. etc. - who would have made the most mark if they had have lived; whose death turned them into a legend which had they have lived, they would not have become ?
My answer:
- Buddy Holly had he have lived would probably have bought about the sort of transition the Beatles did - from basic rock to sampling, psychedelia and so on - well before they did.
- Kurt Cobain would not have been remembered as he is now. Nirvana would have split, and he would have faded into obscurity.

The olny one I can think of at the moment is Antoni GaudÃ, although he did live a long life and make a mark on Barcelona. Who knows what else he would have done had he not been run over by a tram.

o think i gotta agree with you there mordy, buddy holly was a technical groundbreaker. i recently heard some very interesting stuff he recorded at 33 1/3rpm that was to be played at 45rpm. sounded a bit like the chipmunks or something but all the harmonies transposed correctly and everything.
and as for cobain, he just needed to get a grip. a bit of a one trick pony in my opinion. and this coming from someone who rates nevermind in the top 20 albums of all time.
but...let's not ever forget about the talent that was dustin gee.
so spakka, you oop north yet?

we will be re-enacting the first motorbike trip we took together. oh, the romance of it all. from here to berwick-upon-tweed via hawick/st boswells, then lindisfarne and seahouses (for nomtastic fish&chips) before morpeth.
i'm fair looking forward to this here bash.
a card, must get out the card-making kit.
i guess you'll be letting the train take teh strain?
or p'raps teleportation?

I wonder what part of the re-enactment the b3ta-bash will represent?
I'll be bus, tube and trainbound. Even though Morpeth is way oop north, faffing around in London will take up to 1/3rd of the journeytime.

kasia and i have been to morpeth together once before. it was the occasion of my final divorce hearing and she accompanied me by way of offering support. a brave thing for her to do, i reckon.
so this will be the first time i've been back there since. i just hope i don't bump into any of my ex-in-laws, a couple of them are a bit feral.
i'm sure the b3taposse will protect me with fluff and stuff!
