Who to buy from?
Hey you funky techy Lords, I need to buy a new desktop, but who from? Any advice on who you recommend (or would avoid like the plague) would be appreciated!

Cheers!

(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:15, Reply)
That's only £55 overpriced

What sort of spec are you after?
If you're not sure, what will you be using it for?

Ah - Good question!
Home entertainment, movies, streaming baseball, no serious gaming.
(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:19, Reply)
I don't think I can really help you much further
As my answer would be "build it yourself".
(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:28, Reply)
Thanks anyway!

Actually
www.ecgo.co.uk might be worth a look if you can find something that suits.

I got a nice one from
www.computerplanet.co.uk - I picked one then it lets you fiddle with the details to your heart's content. Add or remove memory, graphics card etc etc. Didn't work out too badly.

Build you own
set your own budget and just buy the best you can for it.

There's no excuse for not building your own PC its easy.

Being blind and having no hands?

(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:28, Reply)
Or being in a coma.

(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:29, Reply)
These are good reasons

(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:30, Reply)
I'm willing to bet someone who is blind with no hands has built a pc before
Being in a coma is no excuse either.

I'd go for oak.
Looks really nice, if it's polished well.

*is in "obvious crap joke" mood*

I've got a tiny, quiet Acer Aspire desktop
it cost about £250, has 2 gig of ram, 2x 64 bit Athlons.
it does all the stuff you want. had to get a screen seperately, but that meant I could get a nice one.

got it from ebuyer.com

I've had a couple of Acers and they've lasted well. Customer service has been outstanding as well.
(, Mon 10 Aug 2009, 11:46, Reply)
I've just ordered these for my work
www.ebuyer.com/product/168998

They come without an OS, but I'm sure you can find someone to *ahem* help out with that?

Worst comes to worst, drop me a GAZ, and I can send you a copy of XP SP3 (as Vista is wank!)
