Have you considered using online banking?You can just transfer the funds from the comfort of your swivel-chair without having to worry about the price of a postage-stamp. Just don't do this when drunk.

I did.When I tried to pay the 66p off on line, it wouldn't work and the site kept telling me I needed to pay the minimum amount - which was 66p. Hence the cheque.
