What's wrong with him?

(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:19, Reply)
think they said anemia? from feline leukemia?
until 3 weeks ago he was an old but healthy solid farm mog, then a cut on his head wouldn't heal, and since then he has been shedding weight and now his back legs have almost gone.

His brother Clod went with the same thing a few years ago, but we didn't click and he was very ill when we had him put down, Sparky is on that cusp of still just about healthy but going fast.

Bummer, I've only seen young cats go from that.
Do you have any other cats at the moment?
(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:35, Reply)
yep
another cat (called mouse, our family are shit at pet names) he is off to the vet as well just in case
(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:36, Reply)
Ask them to do an FIV/FELV snap test to be on the safe side
They can be pricey if they include FIP with it, but it's worth it for the assurance.
(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:40, Reply)
will suggest it thanks
mouse is my sisters thing that she moved in with, and they are broke.
(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:43, Reply)
Well FELV is spread through saliva, so if the cats have groomed each other or shared water and food bowls
then it could have been passed on. Having said that, some cats are carriers and can live a long time with it with no apparent ill effects. Or she could get Mouse vaccinated against FELV if it's not vaccinated already.
(, Wed 2 Sep 2009, 21:58, Reply)
no chance of grooming
they hate each other, but will pass on the suggestions thankyou as they eat each others food.

I've just got home.
My cat is a bastard, and actually bit me while I was reading this. I'll still lie on the floor and sob my heart out when he dies. You must have a big sad hole in your chest right now. I'm sorry he's got to go. I'm glad you'll be with him and he'll just go to sleep.
