Ah, I'm a SLAVE to my ears
I've suffered ear problems for years and eventually was diagnosed with a lesser form of vertigo.

Too much loud music and other daft stuff in my youth.

I also have tinnitus, although not at an intrusive level.

Mind, at nearly 41 that's all I've got to complain about, so on the whole I suppose I should count my blessings.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:23, Reply)
Sometimes, I also wonder if I've been exposed to too much loud music
Sometimes in loud pubs, I find it easier to listen to the background noise than the foreground conversation.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:31, Reply)

(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:47, Reply)
Thanks for the gaz.

TRIIIO... TRIIIIO! I WANNA TRIO AND I WANT ONE NOW!
Oh hai. Earache you say? Sorry bout that... I'm in work. The band of old folksters are in. I forgot. I have to sing. Ah well, s'all fun...
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:23, Reply)
Why d'you got to sing?
Are these just old person regulars expecting some crooning?
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:26, Reply)
They're this old band who come here for a reunion every few months and bring all their wives and that
I sang the last few times, but this time they've learnt all songs for me, and as soon as I walked in they said "hope your voice is ok, you're on in a bit". I know it's only a pub but I feel all nervous ha!
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:31, Reply)
So what are you singing?
I expect "The leaving of Liverpool" may be in there somewhere.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:37, Reply)
They do The Leaving of Liverpool!
I'll prob do some Patsy Cline, The Boxer, Miss Otis Regrets and a bit of the Everly Brothers.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:42, Reply)
So fare-thee-well my loverlee...
Because it's nearly bedtime for me.

How do you do Everly's solo?
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:53, Reply)
Is cerenading the best cure for earache I wonder?
But then again, you've got a nice voice when it's in bold all-capitals.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:33, Reply)
Shall I go into a scouse tirade?
That'll blow your earache to France...
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:44, Reply)
Let's just hope it doesn't blow my ears there too.

(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 20:53, Reply)
Well done you :) what happened?
Sorry for absence of late chaps, we're totally slammed at work and I've been coming home and collapsing with exhaustion :(
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:01, Reply)
Evening Mallie
We're going through something similar. As well as preparing ourselves for a feature in an industry-magazine, we've got some stuff to get ready for an important trade show. The office is buzzing with activity at the moment. What a time for my ear/headache :-(
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:06, Reply)
Tell me about it; I desperately need a week off
but we're slammed. Especially as my mother has chosen to descend on me in a couple of weeks' time. Do not fucking want.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:08, Reply)
Gah!
I too could do with some time off. Even though my earache let me take the day off, it's still doing my head in, and spent most of the day in bed.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:10, Reply)
I need something non-painful
to allow me a few days' grace to recharge my batteries, so I can sit on the couch all day.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:13, Reply)
Only thing I can think of is pulling a sickie
Am sort of wondering whether or not I'll be in work tomorrow, but I'll see how it goes.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:22, Reply)
My job is precious, so I'm not sure if it's a risk I'm willing to take.
My boss is trying to persuade me to take my mother somewhere...
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:25, Reply)
Know what you mean
I daren't even pull a sickie myself, but have been known to ... ahem ... allow for some extra recovery time.

If you take your mother somewhere where the distraction really is a distraction, it will make being with your mother less intolerable.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:31, Reply)
* applauds *
* and also applauds the A&E staff *

Perhaps you should hold out the wire and show it to us for more applause.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:03, Reply)

I didn't have anything
removed from my finger today, but I did manage to gouge a big fuck off hole in my innocent flesh whilst trying to 'fix' something with a scalpel blade. I've not bled like that in ages..
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:20, Reply)
Evening Berk
What were you trying to fix, and was it worth de-flowering your innocent flesh?
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:23, Reply)
No
it was bastard not. A lovely sharp blade sank 3mm in to my poor index finger causing it to gush blood and me to swear, both profusely.
One of the machines in our lab had broke and it's old, but rather than replace it immediately (several hundred quid) I thought it'd be best to make sure the power supply wasn't to blame, so a replacement power cable is ordered (20 quid). It didn't quite fit, so I decided to 'remodel' it. With a scalpel, obviously.

it was the bloody machine after all...

*sigh* hows yourself?
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:31, Reply)
Ouch!
At least you made an effort to fix something rather than just throw it away.

Got a bit of an earache myself at the moment. Took the day off work to recover, but spent most of it either asleep or trying to coax my shower into giving me some hot water.
(, Mon 7 Sep 2009, 21:40, Reply)
Gid ovening
'ello Spakka- how are the proverbial tricks with you?

I am listening to Two Lone Swordsmen's guitarry stuff. Very, very different from the Swordsmen of Tiny Reminders and A Virus With Shoes.

Evening Plumdozer
As you can see above, I've got a bit of an earache. Can't handle earphones at the mo' - especially not iPod ones.

How's things at your end?
