( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 21:40, 1 reply, 16 years ago)

they've got three different ones

Kopperberg Pear cider is nice cold. Otherwise you want some sort of Scrumpy. I don't know if they do proper cider in the states.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 21:49, Reply)

we probably don't, I'm pretty sure this will be imported and will cost me an arm and a leg
besides most of the cider we sell is sold in gallon jugs next to the apples in supermarkets.

Get Kopperberg. Accept no substitute.

and attend the Easter Bash down in Cornwall or Devon or wherever Clendrix is holding it. They do proper cider down there.

I did grow up about a mile from the Somerset border and I have to say that Somerset Cider is not made of apples or pears, it is made from win!

Strong Dry Cider
And its still better than Strongbow.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:02, Reply)

You're better off not drinking anything and saving the money until you can afford a smaller quantity of nice cider.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:04, Reply)

And its 5.2% and £1.92 for a 4 pack and nicer than blackthorn and strongbow.
Cider of choice here in fair old cornwall is Rattler but its expensive.

Christ, I sound like an alcoholic!

I was ready to break shit
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:31, Reply)

It's not really expensive though, as it's still stronger, cheaper and far, far better tasting than Stella or Export or any other premium beer.
I'm not on commission. No, really.

Because a lot of cider in the US is NON-ALCOHOLIC!
Cider without alcohol - that's just wrong.
If you're a cider virgin then Strongbow will be good enough. Most UK persons had their first drunken experiences on Strongbow or Bulmers, I expect.

Once at uni when we were all skint and bought a bottle of white lightning between us. I took a sip and declared myself out. The other time was a can of strongbow that I was paid £20 to drink.

And all you can rely on to get you pissed is Rick's big brother, who can get served at the Co-op, you make do with what you can get.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:18, Reply)

No problem getting served from about 14 onwards until I hit 20, had my name above the shop door as the co-licensee holder and everywhere starts asking me for ID. Haven't stopped yet.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:28, Reply)

From about 15 onwards.
First time I got challenged was two days after my 18th birthday.
Second time was in Alberqurque, New Mexico, last year. I was 39 last year!

But then I don't drink with the intention of getting plastered.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:14, Reply)

and yeah I'm going to fucking get the strongbow
and probably another kind
whatever it is that they have
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:18, Reply)

And may not have much choice in the matter.
Lets face it - Strongbow v Miller Lite....
Must I continue?
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:49, Reply)

When Strongbow is the only option the I guess it'll do.
Guess I shouldn't be to snobby, I used to drink K.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:51, Reply)

I remember that stuff.
Came in a black bottle, didn't it?
One of my mates used to scoff it all the time.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 22:58, Reply)

sometimes they had special editions which were in other colours.
My friends brother used to work in the factory, which was in Somerset. Still I used to drink it because it was cheap and I didn't like beer then.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 23:02, Reply)

Because I'm regressing twenty years or so here, and my memories of buying stoopid black bottles with a big red K on them, in sweaty bars thumping with the sound of Go West, Hue and Cry and our local heroes - It Bites - aren't too false after all.
( , Fri 11 Sep 2009, 23:17, Reply)

Miller lite is the fucking nastiest shit EVER
I'm Bud Light all the way baby
sad but true
