With my daughter almost certainly coming to live with me full-time
sometime soon, I'm looking to make some big changes - namely getting a proper well-paying satisfying job, maybe a car, and a proper house instead of the one-person annexe I live in currently. It's all excitements!

As I'll have to get all the little things that complete a home, my question is: what household gizmos or bits of kit could you not live without?

I cant' live
without my water cooler.
I get a 5 gallon bottle delivered every two weeks, and use it in everything from drinking, to the cats' water bowls, to cooking. I get chilled water out of it, and also there's an option for water at room temperature.

Oh, and congrats on getting the rugrat :)

Cheers!
I like my water tepid and cloudy from a tap, else it's just not British.

The tap stuff here is
utterly vile, and not quite safe. There's no natural water sources around - everything comes out of the Sierras 300 miles away, and is used for sewage, plant irrigation etc and then recycled for tap water.

Obvious one
But you don't realise how much you need a toaster until you don't have one.

Having to live without marmite on toast is just hellish.

I can't live with
asterisks that don't have any subtext. *cries*
Wait... did you eat it? DAMN YOU

Hahaha
I deleted it before you posted. It was to indicate that I've got inside information that her mother's relationship is due to go out of the window anytime soon, so she's not going to have anywhere to live for the second time since Easter, and she's probably going to do a bunk to the city. Her fella and I have been emailing.

You'll have planes trying to land on your roof.

I have lived without an iron
for 15 years. The last time I used my hoover was prolly ten years ago. I've never had a dishwasher, or a tumble drier. My washing machine is almost as old as me. It is neither newfangled nor shiny. I can live easily without many of the "must have" domestic appliances most people take for granted.

But if you try to take my recently acquired breadmaker away from me I will scratch your eyes out with a crusty loaf.

I also have the coolest kettle in the world. It keeps the water hot all day, and glows blue.
