but it has to be the same outcome...Akira is absolutely incredible, i saw it in the cinema in 1990. i could barely speak for about 2 days. There was this one time where i attempted to watch it on LSD...i failed at about the point where Tetsuo is dreaming and he is in the kids park and he looks at his arm and it begins to crumble.....PUT IT OFF PLEASE.

I recently got hold of the blu-ray version, but have yet to afford it my full attention.

EDIT to say, that Yellow Submarine is the most gentle, jolly and subversive film you are ever likely to see this side of a microdot. Went to the cinema to see it about 9 years ago when the re-released it...bottled out of asking the zombie usherette if i could get the massive poster in the foyer.

yeah, it was decent
preferred Ghost in the Shell 2 - Innocence, mindye. It had more of an art-house feel, some super smooth animation, which i enjoyed very much.

Best non live action film? Any of the Rocky films. They made that lead character look so life like. The voice artist made a good job of making him sound like a punch drunk thick cunt, too.

Remarkable achievement considering the technology available at the time.

is absolute shite to be honest, barely a step up from Pokemon. Then there are the odd exceptions, where the animation and set pieces is truly astonishing. Appleseed is a good example...it uses all manner of rotoscoping techniques to convey incredibly lifelike and mind boggling scenes.

The guy who made Akira recently done a film called Steamboy, which is based in the Steampunk scene, whereby Victorian England is awash with massive mecha vehicles and weapons, all powered by steam. Its good, but it's no Akira.

It's shite. The animation is crap, the dubbing execrable, and, more to the point, IT ALL LOOKS THE FUCKING SAME!!! Every character has the same angular features, made to look slightly different from each other by having different hair or bigger eyes. Or tits.
