I have no idea what for, or who by - and the bank won't tell me who, saying they are not allowed! Surely, if I am having money taken from me, i have the right to know who by

Of course they should tell you if it may be fraudulant.
Tell them you'll move your business account elsewhere.

we're actually
in the process of finding another bank. too many problems recently here has made us have second thoughts.

The concept of the charge just says "Various receipts". It's not tax related, we haven't received any invoices for this amount, so we're kinda stumped
