My sister has just been presented with a bill for almost fifteen quid from her daughters school.
The charges? Made up of ‘tuck’ purchased from the school tuck-shop in the name of me eldest niece.
Now, the school aren’t profiteering from this tuck-shop, if anything, the run at a loss, this is the first year she’s been able to use the tuck-shop (being in the 3rd year of infants school) only she wasn’t in on the day they spoke to the class and told them how the tuck shop worked.
Apparently, you queue up, select your purchases, these get written down and then your parent or guardian pays for the stuff you’ve bought at the end of the week. This saves the kids from needing to carry cash – which they are bound to lose, and also gives the parents a chance to control ‘spend’ as the parents set a weekly limit – if anything at all.
The tuck shop sells apples, oranges, pears, grapes and other seasonal fruit. In addition to this, they also sell small bottles of water and juice.
Somewhere along the line, there has been an admin error, explaining to my niece both the way the tuck shop works and to my sister, requesting she sets a limit for how much my niece is allowed to spend.
Turns out, the old dear who writes down the purchases didn’t know about the spend-limit and some of the more cunning kids in my nieces class told her that ‘everything is free, you can have whatever it is you want’ – before asking her to get stuff for them.
I find this absolutely hilarious. My sister also finds this absolutely hilarious, not the fact she’s fifteen quid lighter, but the fact that the school has taken a ‘dim’ view of the whole episode and in addition to e-mailing all the parents to highlight this ‘fraudulent activity’ amongst ‘our young’, they’ve also insisted that the semi-retired ‘school assistant’ writes my sister a letter of apology.
My sister is also hoping that the amount of extra bog-paper she’s needed to buy is connected to the fact that her eldest daughter has been party to fifteen quids worth of healthy snacks – that they sell for about 25p each.
What have you mistakenly been charged for recently?

and disposed of my old ancient hand-me-down sofa that's been in their storage for almost eight years. I was quite impressed when they presented me with a bag of shrapnel to the tune of six quid.

has been mistakenly charged (I think anyway) 140 €.
I have no idea what for, or who by - and the bank won't tell me who, saying they are not allowed! Surely, if I am having money taken from me, i have the right to know who by

Tell them you'll move your business account elsewhere.

in the process of finding another bank. too many problems recently here has made us have second thoughts.
The concept of the charge just says "Various receipts". It's not tax related, we haven't received any invoices for this amount, so we're kinda stumped

how your neice is a a little fat fuck who has been troughing sweets.
It is amusing that the school has had to inform the parents of their kids fraudulent activities

I got a bt landline at my new pad with an install fee of £122.50 as I am in a newbuild and not connected to the network, and took out an 18 month broadband contract at the same time.
Phoned up BT questioning why my phone bill, sent on the 19th September and stating "payment will be taken within 5 days of this letter" hadn't been charged to me, and after lots of faffing with the fact I actually get billed 2 weeks later the chappie said to me
"if you take out an 18 month phone contract we will give you the £122.50 connection fee back"
"Eh?"
"if you take out an 18 month phone contract we will give you the £122.50 connection fee back"
"but I have an 18 month broadband connection contract with you, why would I want a landline contract shorter than that?"
"so you would like an 18 month landline contract?"
"yes please"
"we have cancelled the £122.50 charge, and will re-imburse it if payment is already taken"
"taaar"
